Video Analytics 🆕

See how people watch the videos and courses you share: views, completion, drop-off points, and where viewers come from.

In this help doc

Video Analytics shows how people watch the videos you share: how many people watch, how much they watch, where they stop, and where they come from. This doc shows how to open Analytics, read the numbers, check a course, export a report, what viewers see, and how to choose what's counted.

Note: Video Analytics is available on the Enterprise plan. On the Enterprise plan, views of videos your team members share are also collected. On other plans, you see sample data and a pop-up with a Contact Us button.

Note: On a team, Analytics is available on the master account. Member accounts see a message to contact their master account admin.

Open Analytics

To open Analytics:

  1. Click Analytics at the bottom of the left menu. You see the content you've shared, with Views, Unique viewers, Avg completion, and Watch time at the top.

  2. Click a video in the list to open its details.

💡 Tip: On your video's share page, click Analytics next to Edit at the top.

Read the numbers

To read a video's numbers:

  1. Check Total Views and Unique Views at the top.

  2. Choose a period, such as Last 7 days, Last 28 days, Last 90 days, or Lifetime.

  3. Point to the ⓘ next to a card name to see what it means.

Checking a card's meaning and changing the period to Last 7 days

What each number means:

  • Total Views: a view counts once when playback starts. Playing again on the same page still counts as one view.

  • Unique Views: the number of different viewers who watched.

  • Engagement: the average percentage of the video that viewers watched.

  • Completion Rate: the percentage of viewers who watched the entire video.

  • Total Watch Time and Average Watch Time: the time spent watching, in total and per viewer.

Note: Data updates hourly, so today's numbers may be delayed by up to 1 hour. Your own views while signed in aren't counted. Viewing records are kept for 13 months.

See where viewers drop off

To see where viewers stop watching:

  1. Scroll to Viewer Drop-off. The chart shows how many viewers are still watching at each point of the video.

  2. Check Major Drop-off Points. It lists the biggest drops with Total entry users, Current viewers, and Retention rate.

See where views come from

To see where viewers came from:

  1. Scroll to Traffic sources. Each source shows Views, Unique viewers, Avg watch time, and Completion.

  2. Filter by Embedded pages, LMS, Links, or Direct.

  3. Scroll to Viewer distribution to see Distribution, Countries, and Devices.

The sources mean:

  • Embedded pages: plays in an embed. You see the full page address passed by the embed code.

  • Links: plays from a link on another page. You see the page the viewer clicked from, and many sites send only their domain.

  • Direct / unknown: no referrer was sent, for example links opened from messenger or desktop mail apps, bookmarks, or a typed address.

💡 Tip: Add UTM parameters to your share link to tell campaigns apart.

The Viewers table at the bottom lists each viewer's Progress, Status, Time Spent, and Last Activity. Viewers are shown as Anonymous unless they agreed to share their name and email (see What viewers see below).

Note: The Interactions tab is for interactive videos only. For other videos, it's grayed out.

Check a course

To check a course:

  1. Click Analytics at the bottom of the left menu, then click Course above the list.

What viewers see

Viewers are told that their viewing is measured:

  • On the share page, this notice appears under Copy link in the share box on the right: "Viewing records (segments watched, device, country, traffic source) are used by the owner of this video for viewing analytics."

  • On a phone, the notice is one line under the video.

  • In an embedded video, the notice is behind an ⓘ icon.

Viewers can withdraw their consent at any time with Withdraw consent to share name and email.
