1. What Are Language Codes?

Language codes are used to identify languages and regional variants across the platform.

They are used in several features, including:

  • Brand Dictionary rules

  • CSV uploads

  • AI Dubbing

  • Video Translation

Language codes follow a locale format that identifies both the language and the region.

language-region

Examples:

  • en-US → English (United States)

  • en-GB → English (United Kingdom)

  • ko-KR → Korean (South Korea)

  • es-MX → Spanish (Mexico)

These codes allow the system to apply the correct pronunciation, translation rules, and voice settings for each language.

2. Supported Language Code Format

Language codes follow the IETF BCP-47 locale standard, which is widely used in modern software systems to identify languages and their regional variants.

A typical language code is structured as:

4. Important Notes

  • Language codes are case sensitive.

  • Always use the full locale code when required.

  • Incorrect language codes may cause rules to be ignored.

  • Language codes must match the project language or target language settings for rules to be applied correctly.
