How to Convert Video File Formats with a Video Converter

The Video Converter changes a video file into another video format, or into an audio file when you only need the sound. This doc shows how to upload a file, choose the output settings, and download the converted file.

Upload your video file

To open the Video Converter and add a file:

  1. In the left menu of the dashboard, click Apps.

  2. Under Tools, click Video Converter.

  3. Click Upload a file and select a video file, or drag and drop the file onto the page.

Note: You can upload MP4, WEBM, MOV, AVI, MKV, WMV, MPEG, MPG, OPUS, and TS files.

Choose the output settings

To set how the converted file is made:

  1. In Resolution, choose 1920x1080, 1280x720, 854x480, or 640x360, or leave it on No change to keep the original size.

  2. In Audio Bitrate and Sample Rate, choose values or leave them on Auto.

  3. In Convert to..., choose the output format.

The Convert to... list has:

  • Video formats: MP4, WEBM, MOV, AVI, MKV, WMV, MPEG, MPG, OPUS, and TS.

  • Audio formats: MP3, WAV, FLAC, WMA, AAC, and M4A. Choose one of these to keep only the sound.

Note: When you choose an audio format, Resolution is grayed out.

💡 Tip: A lower resolution makes a smaller file. Keep the original size if the video is for a large screen.

Convert and download

To get the converted file:

  1. Click Convert. The file is converted in a short while.

  2. When Download for free! appears, click Download to save the file to your device.

💡 Tip: To convert another file, click Convert another video.

FAQ

Does the Video Converter use credits?
No. Converting a file doesn't use credits.

How do I get only the audio from a video?
Upload the video, then choose an audio format such as MP3 in Convert to....

Why did converting to an audio format fail?
The video needs a sound track. A video with no sound can't be converted to an audio format.

Can I convert several files at once?
No. The converter handles one file at a time.

Why did my conversion fail?
Wait a moment and try again. The file may be too large or damaged, or it may have a setting that blocks conversion, such as password protection. If it keeps failing, contact support.
