Conversational AI in AI Studios lets people talk with an AI avatar in real time. This FAQ answers common questions about what an interactive avatar can do, how it answers, how people reach it, and how it is billed.
About interactive avatars
What is conversational AI in AI Studios?
It is the Interactive Avatar feature. An interactive avatar listens, responds, and talks with people in real time through voice and lip-sync.
What can an interactive avatar be used for?
Sample avatars cover roles such as sales, customer service, insurance, healthcare, banking, HR, hospitality, retail, and public service. You can also use interactive avatars for AI interviews, role play practice, and interactive coaching.
Do I need to create my own avatar first?
No. Sample avatars are ready to use. Hover over a sample avatar and click Start Chat to try a conversation.
Can I use my own face?
Yes. Create an avatar from a video or a photo. After creation, activation takes up to about 24 hours.
How the avatar answers
Can the avatar answer any question?
The avatar answers based on the project you set up. In Conversation Settings, you can choose the Model and add a Conversation Prompt, a Greeting Message, and a Knowledge Base.
How do I make the avatar answer from my own information?
Connect a knowledge base to the project. The Knowledge Base page is in the left menu of Interactive Avatar.
Which languages can the avatar speak?
You pick the Language and the voice when you create a project.
Sharing and conversations
How do people talk to my avatar?
Save the project, then share the conversation link or embed it on your website.
Can I review past conversations?
Yes. Conversations people have through the link or embed code appear in the project's Conversation Management page.
Can developers connect an interactive avatar to their own app?

Billing
How are interactive avatars billed?
Conversation time uses interactive avatar credits. 1 credit covers 5 minutes of conversation. Creating your own avatar uses an avatar slot.
Do credits keep running after a conversation ends?
No. Credits are used only while the session is active.
